The background.
For one of the leading TV
Companies in the United Kingdom, the ‘SAMS’ application plays a key
role in its revenue earning business through sales and management of
airtime. The system is also responsible for the subsequent billing
of airtime to the customers.
The SAMS application is divided into the following modules:
•
Inventory – programs and breaks
• Agreement/deals
•
Campaign
• Spot Manipulation
• Spot Traffic
• Finance
Besides SAMS, the client also used a system called the Deal
Management System (DMS) to and manage its agreements with agencies
and advertisers.
The challenge.
The SAMS application needed to
be integrated with DMS, which maintains the agreements, campaigns
and other pricing points such as CPT (Cost per Thousand audience),
audience details, factors, and more. SAMS maintains the program and
break schedule, ratings, spot manipulations and spot traffic
functionality including accounting functions.
Our solution.
The new application is based on
an n-tiered architecture using the latest Java application for the
presentation layer, EJB for the application layer and ORACLE as the
relational data repository.
In addition, a number of identified
functional enhancements were
incorporated in the reengineered
system while adhering to OOAD
methodology using Rational Suite
for modeling, generating and testing
the STELLAR system.
