The challenge.
A client asked us to migrate its existing DOS/C based ‘foreign payment application’ under its “Common European Desktop Services” program to a web application based on the J2EE technology.

Our solution.
The foreign-payment application was identified as one of the key applications for migration since it was developed on legacy technology and was difficult to maintain and function under CEDS. This existing application was DOS/C based and the plan was to migrate it to a web application based on the J2EE technology.

We followed the onsite-offshore model for executing this project. Knowledge transfer, design, development and construction were done offshore under the overall supervision of a project manager, whereas implementation and test support were done onsite.

The results.
The foreign-payment application was successfully migrated from a legacy-based to a web-based application which provided a standardized and modern UI to business users as well as:

  • High availability of the application without any reduction in the response time.
  • Increased synergy within the client group owing to a single identity and infrastructure.
  • Easy access from anywhere and at anytime.

The client also enjoyed the benefits of our dual-shore methodology.

  • High quality of deliverables as the joint application development framework was based on CMM Level 5 processes.
  • Increased transparency as visibility into the project management processes was very high.
  • High turnaround time owing to proper assignment of tasks to
    dual-shore teams
